Japonismes 2018: FUKAMI, exhibition at the Salomon de Rothschild Hotel, extensions

The beautiful exhibition around Japanese aesthetics in art and its representation of nature, FUKAMI, extends until August 21, 2018. A retrospective that is part of Japanismes 2018, celebrating the 160th anniversary of relations diplomatic relations between Japan and France.

A unique vision of nature and aesthetics … This is what the Salomon de Rothschild Hotel offers through the exhibition FUKAMI, a dive into Japanese aesthetics this summer. An exhibition that extends until August 21, 2018 and marks the inauguration of Japanismes 2018, celebrating the 160th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and France.

An exhibition that presents, through various works from different periods, this Japanese aesthetic that “made possible the harmony of differences”, making contradictory elements coexist (good and evil, masculine and feminine, calm and movement, form and chaos …) in the ten rooms of the establishment. A theme of duality that directly echoes the Japonisms 2018, these “souls in resonance” that respond constantly and produce this balance in art and nature.

Japanese artists such as Kohei Nawa, Isson Tanaka or Hokusai, who work alongside Picasso and Gauguin, for a trip into the history of Japan, a dialogue between East and West, and this floating area in which art flourishes and allows this contradictory duality. A “resonance of souls”, in short.
